‘No regrets’: Gophers footballers to wear ‘Gopher’ shirts as they compete for their first national championship

Gophers basketball players will wear “Gopher” shirts during the 2017-18 season, marking the first time the team has done so since the 1994-95 season, when the team was renamed the Gophers.

The first “Gophers” jersey will be worn on Nov. 6 against Illinois in a game that will mark the team’s first appearance in the national championship.

“I’m very proud to wear my hometown jersey and to wear it for the first home game in a championship season,” Gophers guard Matt Beleskey said during a media conference call.

“I think this is going to be a great opportunity for people to come out and support the team.”

Gophers coach Mike Brey has been wearing the “G” jersey throughout his coaching career.

The Gophers will play in the 2016-17 regular season and the conference tournament before they begin their season against Missouri on Jan. 13.

The team will be playing a season-long tour of the United States and Canada starting with games against Michigan State, Wisconsin and Oregon.

They’ll then move to Illinois for a Jan. 26 game against Illinois.

Gophers fans are excited about the season ahead and excited to be playing for their hometown team.

The university is planning on hosting a season ticket holder auction for the season beginning March 31.

Tickets are available online through the university’s Ticketmaster.com and by calling (651) 948-3389.
